About the park and house
HISTORY
The coastal park, gardens and house that form The Kymin in Penarth were bought for public enjoyment and use in 1947. In recent years the park, gardens and house have been owned by the Vale of Glamorgan Council and were managed for the benefit and use of the public by Penarth Town Council. The park, gardens and house are now managed by the Vale of Glamorgan Council.
There are lawns, sea views, public barbecue areas, gardens, boule courts, a pagoda, cliffs and woodlands. It is a valuable natural wildlife habitat within the town. It is enjoyed by town residents and visitors. The house has been used for many years as a community centre / community resource and is currently awaiting refurbishment. The Kymin grounds and house are much valued locally.
